Celebrating Over 20 years of dedication in Islamic Montessori Education

Read Institute of Texas (RIT) began as a simple afterschool program—rooted in care, community, and a vision for faith-based education. Parents saw the difference in their children and began asking for more. Inspired by their support, we opened our first full-day program with just two students in a home-based setting.

Within 30 days, we had reached full capacity. Word spread quickly. More and more families wanted to enroll, and soon, we had a growing waiting list. Parents were eager—some even desperate—to join the RIT family. Alhamdulillah, in January 2010, we moved into our first standalone campus in Allen, TX and welcomed 12 students into our new space.

Over the next year, we grew rapidly—serving over 70 students and expanding our offerings to include our Toddler Program, designed for children 18 months to 6 years. Parents began to notice something profound: students who attended RIT retained knowledge, manners, and Islamic values more deeply than those coming from other schools.

In response, we launched our Elementary Program in January 2012, starting with Grades 1–3, and eventually expanding to include up to 6th grade. For the next eight years, we remained at full capacity with 75 students and a steady waitlist. Alhamdulillah, over 100 students graduated from RIT during this time—many of whom went on to excel in gifted and advanced academic programs.

Then came March 2020. Like many schools across the nation, COVID-19 impacted us deeply. We temporarily closed our physical campus and shifted to online learning. With safety concerns high, many families chose to keep their children at home. As a result, we downsized our enrollment to 40 students and paused our Elementary Program.

In 2021, we reopened our doors physically—but focused exclusively on our Toddler Program to rebuild slowly and mindfully.

Stay connected—we’ll share updates as our plans unfold.
